Perruche

Koichi Kuriyama's first piano single “Perruche” consists of two solo piano pieces. The first track, “Perruche”, is a short and concise piece centered around the repetitive motif of the title, and can be played by anyone, as if a parrot were imitating a human. The second piece, “Feuille”, is an image of leaves swaying in the wind, and develops through a series of modulations.

He recorded these songs on an upright piano in his home studio, and the tone is soft and intimate. They were mixed by Shunroku Hitani, a Japanese recording and mixing engineer working with Akira Kosemura, and mastered by Grammy-nominated mastering engineer Zino Mikorey.

The artwork is the work of Sutezo Otono, Kuriyama's great-grandfather, who was an avant-garde photographer at the time.
